SOFIJA NOVAKOVIC
Sofija Novakovic è nata a Podgorica, in Montenegro.
Si è recentemente laureata in Lingue e Letterature Straniere all’Università degli Studi di Bari e attualmente sta frequentando un Master in Relazioni Internazionali a Lisbona (Portogallo). Cresciuta in una famiglia di pittori, ha iniziato a dipingere tre anni fa. Per paura di non essere in grado di presentare su tela ciò che sentiva e immaginava, ha creato il proprio stile che porta all'astrazione, anche se preferisce non categorizzarlo in nessuna direzione particolare.
Si descrive come una dilettante che sta ancora esplorando e imparando.

Sofija Novakovic was born in Podgorica, Montenegro.
She recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages and Literatures
from the University of Bari, and currently she is studying for a Master’s in International Relations in Lisbon, Portugal. Surrounded with painters in family, she started painting three years ago. For fear of not being able to present on canvas what she felt and imagined, she created her own style that leads to abstraction even though she does not want to assign it to any direction in particular.
She is describing herself as an amateur that is still exploring and learning.

“La maggior parte dei miei dipinti sono stati creati in un periodo di isolamento, cercando di raggiungere equilibrio e calma interiore ma sono anche il risultato dell’elaborazione di pensieri e sentimenti con l’obiettivo di connettersi con il sé interiore. Questa connessione, l’unica vera e più reale che si possa raggiungere, può anche significare perdersi in un regno immaginario o deviare completamente dalla realtà. Nei miei quadri si vedono tante personalità perse e lucide in continua ricerca di un cambiamento e miglioramento. Questi sono per lo più autoritratti, ma cerco anche di rappresentare l’individuo moderno in un modo astratto. Sono tutti paradossi, intrappolati tra la sensazione di una sensibilità accresciuta e nonchalance.
Uso la mia arte per far sapere alle persone che tutti i sentimenti che provano e tutte le desideri nascosti hanno bisogno di raggiungere la libertà per connettersi con il mondo intorno a loro.”

“Most of my paintings were created in time of isolation, trying to achieve balance and inner calm, but they are also the result of processing thoughts and feelings with the aim of connecting with the inner self. This connection, the only real and true connection one can reach, can also mean deluding yourself of an imaginary realm or completely deviating from reality. In my paintings, you can see a lot of lost and lucid personalities in constant search for a better change. These are mostly self-portraits, but I also try to represent the modern individual in an abstract way. All of them are paradoxes, trapped between the feeling of heightened sensitivity and nonchalance.
I use my art to let people know that all the feelings they go through and all the hidden desires they have need to reach freedom in order to connect with the world around them.”
